Tidbits

This is what it looked like outside less than a week ago. Today we had weather that was almost 70 degrees. I hope it stays for a while this time.

Yesterday we had a party to celebrate the end of a community walking program. For those of you who don't know, I work in recreation. I love it. I have the pleasure of thinking up fun ideas ,or borrowing them from others, and then making them into programs. Anyway, the goal of this program was to walk the distance from our home town to New Orleans (1400mls) in teams of six people or less. This all had to be accomplished is eight weeks or less. Audra and I ended up on different teams and I am sad to admit that her team finished before mine.
Anyway....we had a Mardi Gras themed party to end the program. Elsa came early and helped me setup. Needless to say, Elsa (I have no idea where this came from by the way) was in heaven with all the beads and the masks. She LOVES to dress up. She loves toddler bling (notice the bracelet and glow in the dark necklace in the picture below).

Elsa wore this mask the entire time we were for a walk this evening. We received a lot of compliments from the neighbors.
Here is Gibman.
As some of you may know, we have been battling Gibson's skin for the last few months. He has severe eczema. It manifests itself in horrid rashes behind his knees, at his ankles, wrists, and behind his ears. He also has a face rash some of the time. I will spare you the details of what happens to his rashes but think puss, oozing, blood and scratching (ok... I didn't really spare you the details). All of this is to say that his face is looking better and his face is red from a sunburn and a red M&M and not really the eczema.
Now on to the house. Things are going GREAT! The electrician is coming next Monday. After he comes, we can rip out more of the kitchen cabinets because one of the cabinets is full of wires and a not so up to code sub-panel. We have almost all of the flooring ripped out and a good start on the paneling that we are taking out. Alas, life is a little more back to normal and we don't have as much time this week to work on the house as we would like.

How FUN! I miss an active/busy Rec District! :( We have struggles with eczema with the older girls... my mother-in-law swears by A&D ointment (the diaper rash creme) We haven't had an outbreak since she told me about it - but hey... who knows!? :)
But yay that it's only M&M's this time! :)

I had eczema when I was younger, but I grew out of it (thank goodness!)
You guys always have so much fun!

I love the mask! I love to dress up and really enjoy the bling. Most of the Mardi Grass stuff we have comes from oriental trading. I have a pink Princess dress up trunk for little girls and an old blue pirate dress up trunk for both male and female. Now we have to wait for the grandchildren to grow up to use them...

We have a TON of those mardi gras beads that one of Dan's reps brought from New Orleans and both addy and Easton LOVE them. They are great entertainment. Gibson looks a lot like Elsa to me in that picture. Glad you are making progress on the house, it is rewarding to see it coming along.

Sounds like there's plenty to do in that house! We'll hear all about it as you go, which I am looking forward to because I do not have the ambition to do something like that. So second-hand will have to do for now!

Poor "Gibman". :(

Evan would get the ozzy nasty stuff behind the knees as well. The best stuff for us was Elidel. He grew out of it too, so there is hope!

Gotta love dress up. Come on -- I used to dress up with Mom's old clothes all the time. I especially loved her big clunky heeled shoes (remember I was playing dress up in the early 80s, so the old clothes were from the 70s). Oddly enough, Halloween is my least favorite holiday now... Anyway, Afton and I definitely want to come visit sometime before year end (well, actually, before the fall/winter snowfall). After all, I got a baby backpack just to traipse through the mountains (or yellowstone perhaps?) with a baby in tow :).
