2 Weeks Down...

We closed on the house 2 weeks ago. Here are some pictures of our progress. My Mom asked how the construction was going, and I assured her that the DESTRUCTION is going very well indeed. The house now looks uglier than it did before, but that's only on it's way to looking better!

Here's the living room. You've already seen the wood floors. Now you can also see the old sheetrock under the paneling. We think we can just fix the holes in the sheetrock, sand down some of the old texture, and put on new texture. That means less sheetrock for us! Oh, and that's Elsa in the doorway playing the "drums". She does pretty well entertaining herself while we work.

Gibson, however, does not entertain himself very well. So, we try to go and work when he can take a nap. This afternoon when he woke up I sent Elsa down to talk to him and give him some crackers. Here they are. This is in one of the basement bedrooms. We ripped the carpet out here.

Oh, this is part of the other basement bedroom. I can't wait to paint it, although Elsa likes it the way it is! I think the old built in cabinetry is a plus. Especially since we don't have much dresser space right now. The old drawers and cabinets also remind me of my Grandma I.'s house.

Here's the dining room area minus flooring. Remember the nasty carpet? Almost all gone now!! Please ignore the piles that need to be thrown away.

Today Chris spent a chunk of time tearing out cabinets. Here he and Gibson are standing in front of one of the cabinet-free walls!!

AND.....while we've been trying to keep busy inside there's been a very busy robin bird outside. This is the beautiful nest that was made on top of our front porch light. It was kinda fun to watch it being built, and we showed it to Elsa. Sadly, we had to take it down. I hope the robin can find another place to built her nest.

I am loving the paint colors in that room, but that does remind me of grandma's house. Amazing the amounts of garbage that you have huh? Did you rent a big dumpster or are you just borrrowing a truck to go the dump?

Looking like progress is being made! How's the weather out there? It seems like you are able to have doors and windows open?
