Grandma and Grandpa arrived on Monday night after waiting to get through a closed canyon for a few hours. We were all so excited they made it before bedtime. It was better than Christmas! Not only because we had family here, but because they came bearing gifts. Elsa and Gibson eagerly played with their new toys! One of the toys they brought was this funny dancing and hopping Easter rabbit. Both of our kids loved it!! They danced, sang, and hopped with it! Here's Elsa playing with it. I regret that I didn't get a video clip of Gibson dancing along with the little guy. He loves it! I guess I still can, although I think he "danced" with it so much it's now paralyzed from the waist up and only hops instead of dancing, singing, and hopping. Oh well.
We had a great couple of days with Grandma and Grandpa, even though the weather wasn't that great. Grandma was Elsa's constant playmate, and Gibson and Grandpa became good buddies.
We were sad to see them leave on Thursday morning. Elsa was in withdrawals all day on Thursday and just kept asking when they were coming back, and if she could go to their house, etc.
Friday we signed our life away and closed on the house!!! WAHOO!! Here I am unlocking the door with our new key!
I wanted to get to work right away, so I thought we could start with the carpet. We thought since the kids were at the babysitter we would take 30 minutes and tear out some carpet. Here I am, getting started on the work!
We found pretty nice wood floors under there!! We're excited about restoring and refinishing those! We got some of the carpet torn out then, and I went back for about and hour after that and tore out some more. There's so much work to do, but we were amazed how much better it looks already, just without that carpet in there! Here's the living room.
And the "orange carpet" bedroom. That's all I got done.
Yesterday we spent the day in our nearing big city. We went to the temple, to eat, to shop. We got some things at the Home Depot so we could get started!!! Let the fun begin! I'm going tomorrow with some friends from church to clean in the morning. There is dog hair stuck everywhere! Fun, fun, fun!
A quick story, mostly for those old freshman in college roommates of mine. At the temple yesterday I saw a sister and she looked familiar. She said, "are you Audra?"(She actually said my maiden name too, which I thought was absolutely amazing. People tell me I'm pretty memorable. Is that a good thing???). I was thinking, "there is no way that this is who I think it is.." Anyway, it was Teresa, the Relief Society President from my freshmen year at Ricks college. CRAZY!!! She lives up in the neighboring state now! She has 5 kids, the oldest is 10. It was strange to try and catch up on 11 years of life, and a neat experience to see her again. We hugged and exchanged email addresses. She asked if I still liked popcorn!! ha, ha, ha!!! It really sent me down memory lane. Anyway, wanted to share that with the people who know what I'm talking about. I just thought it was good we could both still recognize each other after 11 years!
Oh, I promise I will post about March birthdays at some point. Just not tonight.

Wow, those floors do look like they are in pretty good shape. That's lucky. Congratulations on your home! I can't wait to see what you'll do with the place.
And, R and D look so happy and natural as grandparents.
It is so CRAZY to me that people cover up such beautiful wooden floors with carpet! A lot of my friends are buying houses and finding this same thing. ODD!
Congratulations on the house!!! the floors are beautiful. (BTW, Afton was totally scared by the dancing/singing bunny until yesterday afternoon when Tony finally got her warmed up to it -- now she claps for it when it finishes the song.)
The floors are amazing. Why would anyone cover those beautiful floors with such ugly carpet. Are you going to keep them? We had a blast with you guys. Gibson and Elsa are so much fun to be with. We will see you this summer when we come to help with the house.
Love Grandma Debbie
Those wood floors are actually GORGEOUS!
I actually knew that Reed and Debbie were on the road - it's fun to see pictures of their little precious ones.
Love, B
let the real fun begin. That is awesome with the wood floors, I love that look in the bedroom with a really soft, fluffy area rug, an essential for waking up on those cold mornings!!! Looks like fun, can't wait to see it.
Oh those floors are beautiful. It took Thomas Jefferson 42 years to get his home the way he wanted it and he had all those slaves to help him. We have been living here 18 years and we have a ways to go to get this house in shape. Enjoy the journey.
Yeah...how exciting! It does look soooo much better already! Beautiful floors..how great!
I'm so excited for you guys and your new house. It's going to look great I'm sure.
Oh and yes you are one of those memorable people you can never forget. I know I'll never forget my "Momma"! :-D
Of course you are memorable Audra! And that is a good thing. I can't believe how grown up your kids are looking. Wow, you guys lucked out on the wood floors too--nice!
LOVE that wood flooring!
Is that the red-headed Theresa? If so, I remember her and when she got married. Wow, a TEN year old! Sheesh! What a coincidence!
Hi there! Congrats on the house and those wonderful floors. :)
Kim
No way!! That's so crazy that you ran in to her! It's a small world after all...
