Garden

Some of my most fond memories from this summer come from gardening with Elsa. (Yes this is Chris posting again) Near the end of spring we had an FHE lesson about plants. We talked about how thing grow. Then we planted beans in some pots in our house. Each day we let Elsa water them and watch them grow. She thought it was really cool.
When summer came, we were ready to plant a garden. Elsa "helped" me plant most of the seeds. She was responsible for some rogue beans and zucchini that popped up all over. She also went with me to the store to pick out some tomato, strawberry, and pepper plants. She was a very diligent weeder. She and I would get our buckets to sit on and pull weeds for long periods of time. She got pretty good at recognizing where the rows were and which plants were suppose to stay.
She really like harvest time. She was fascinated with cutting the cilantro. We had an abundant cilantro harvest. She also learned that deer "make dad angry". Our tomato harvest was pretty weak due to some deer raids. Anyway, we spent a lot of time in the garden. Here is a little snapshot of what we picked. We learned that Elsa LOVES cucumbers this summer.

Here are some photos of Audra and Elsa enjoying some of the last warm days of the year. Audra is a fun mom!!!

Sorry to hear about the deer. By the way, I love Elsa's bangs! Is that an Auntie Kelly hair-do? I know Elsa is very energetic, but with each picture she just seems more and more beautiful -- watch out in twelve/thirteen years :).
