nap time

we've been having an almost daily struggle with Elsa and nap time. Today, this is how is went:
12:30 arrive home from park, put in a movie while I mix up lunch. Gibson fell asleep on the way home, so I put him in his bed. Hope Elsa falls asleep.
1:00 done eating lunch, turn volume of movie down, make sure she has her blanket. Hope she falls asleep watching the movie.
1:45 I fall asleep watching the movie. Elsa hollers and wakes me up,"don't close your eyes Mom".
2:00 elsa poops (hooray, maybe she won't while she's in her room) movies over, she's not asleep--time to start the real routine
2:10 read stories in the room, tell stories, sing songs, shut the door (we took a long time on this today-ending around 2:35)
2:40 elsa opens her door (a new skill she acquired yesterday) and comes out to tell me that "I peed on the floor. My room is messy with pee."
2:45 diaper changed, pee cleaned up, another song...Gibson wakes up-go get him and leave her in her room.
3:00 elsa bangs on the door, talks, etc. I hear "Mommy, I need you." I go check on her, she has pooped again! And taken her diaper off! I get the wipes and start the clean-up. She says she wants to go on the potty---well, we must encourage all desires to potty train, so we go to the potty. She sits there for a minute. Nothing. "Good try!"
Now, we clean her up one more time. Oh, now she has a rash. Put some diaper cream on, yet ANOTHER diaper, and back to bed. She bangs her head on something? the wall? I'm not sure, but she cries, I hold her, put her in bed.
3:20 This time I put the door knob cover on so she can't open her door and get out (I'll take it off after nap time). She cries a little more
It is now 3:25 and I don't hear any sounds from her room...maybe I can make dinner and get a few things done....
Whew! It's not usually this difficult, thankfully! However, yesterday she took her diaper off and pooped on the FLOOR! I cleaned it up, and she went back to bed!
Once she finally falls asleep she'll nap for a few hours...ahhh.
Here's a picture. I just don't like to post without one. Thanks Great Grandma for the cute clothes!

Yuck, I am so sorry, potty training is the worst, Addy pulled her diaper off 2x, and luckily it was only pee, I don't envy you. Good luck, it is a frustrating process.

It gets better, some days are longer than others. This sounds like a long one. Be grateful that you have wood floors and not carpet.

This, too, shall pass! Soon they will be out the door and off to college! We old folks have all been there and done that, and YOU and your cousins are the result! You can do it!

So the best is yet to come with nap time and bodily functions :). Thanks for keeping it real on the blog-o-sphere!

No fun potty training. Ask Joel to tell you sometime about the time Angie was out of town and Shelby did the finger painting with poop dance. I'm glad I wasn't there. Have you considered putting one of those portable "potty training toilets" in her room during nap time. It sounds like she likes to go at nap time.

I am Poccohantas too with Jasmine runner up. I was hoping for Ariel for some reason...maybe because my kids love her so much, maybe because I wish I could look that good in a swimsuit. So glad you are getting good use of the playset and the backpack...just wait to see what is in the care package I will send when we move from this rental to a different house? You say you need lots more toys, right?

Love to all,
Start planning your trip!
Love, Heidi
