bird

Today while I was home I heard a strange vibrating sound coming from our fireplace. I looked inside thinking something had fallen down the chimney. I didn't notice anything. Then a few minutes later something started banging on glass doors at the front of the fireplace. A bird had managed to fall down the chimney. Lucky for me Elsa and Audra had just come back from their walk, so someone else could witness it. We closed all the curtains and put blankets over some of the windows. Then we opened the front door. As soon as we opened the glass doors to the fireplace, the bird went shooting out and headed right out the front door. Elsa was really intrigued. She wasn't quite sure it was a good thing having a noisy bird in the fireplace. Every time it flew around in the fireplace, it made a lot of noise that made Elsa jump. The bird left a nice little pile of soot just outside the fireplace door. Elsa did think that was cool. She kept pointing it out to us. It was too bad Gibson was sleeping. He is much more fearless/mellow than Elsa and would probably have pressed his face up to the glass to keep an eye on the bird while giggling. After it was all said and done, Elsa did keep talking about how she wanted to catch the bird. She went outside to look for it too. Too bad we didn't video clip it. I am just glad it wasn't a bat in the fireplace. I think I have been reading too many vampire books, and no I do not read the twilight books. I would recommend The Graveyard Book though. Just as a plug, it is a fun play on The Jungle Book. Instead of a boy being raised by animals, the boy is raised by ghosts in a graveyard. Very clever and well written.

We had a bat stuck in our fireplace. I called Carol Murphy to help me take it outside. We put it in a net and it flew away outside.
I have also read the Graveyard Book. (2009 Newberry award winner)It was delightful.

I'm just impressed you thought to close the blinds. I would have probably let the bird sail to its death smack dab in the middle of a big window... :).

I have had many experiences of bats in the house. Creeped me out! Didn't you have a squirrel in the fireplace too? Or was that someone else? And there have been birds escape from cages in the classrooms and flying around the library before they flew out the doorway. Bummer....it was a pet.

I would have liked to have seen that video-too bad.
Clay won't read the Twilight books either, but I assure you that some men do read them in case you ever want to attempt them. :)
