It seems that we have been really busy this month. I subbed for the High School Spanish Teacher for a week. That was a fun change of scene. I was glad to be back to my home routine after the week was over, and get back to my own kids. The High Schoolers were start to act just like my young kids. Valentine's Day passed with our traditional huckleberry and peach crepes. Chris has been busy doing pottery at night to build up his inventory and prepare for a sale in March.
I'm not sure when this series of photos was taken, but I can tell you that Elsa was the photographer. Looks like they had fun. Evidence that once in awhile, all three of them get a long very nicely!
On Friday I babysat my friend's girls. They didn't have school. Tried to stay pretty busy all day. One thing that the older girls wanted to do was decorate cakes. We had done this once before another time they were here. So, in the morning we made the cakes. A little cake for each person, and a round for Elsa's birthday cake. We also whipped up some frosting. Here are the results!
I made Elsa's cake -with her help and suggestions- while I had all the stuff out. I haven't decorated a cake since last June, and I could tell it had been awhile, and that I'm still a beginner. Elsa wanted yellow frosting and all colors of flowers. She told me what and where she wanted things. She even made some of the little pink flowers on the top border, and the small blue and green flowers in the "bouquet". I finished it up after she went to bed last night, and she approved it this morning! Now it's in the freezer waiting for the big day!
Welcome to our blog. We hope you enjoy it. We blog mainly as a way to keep in touch with our far away family members, but have enjoyed keeping up with friends as well. We'd love to hear from you, so please comment. If you would like to link us on your blog, please don't use our last name or location. Thanks.

Elsa's cake is so beautiful. Very nice job everyone!! I can't believe that she is going to be 6 next week. Happy Birthday Elsa!!! You always have so much fun at your house.
I am very impressed by your cake decorating skills. I would not label you as a beginner!
The second picture looks like a picture from a twilight movie or some vampire show, it makes me laugh. Have you worked at all with fondant? NExt time we are together, we should experiment with it, cause it looks fun to me, I think I could get into that.
My kiddos all want to learn how to decorate cakes. I'm just a bit reluctant for unknown reasons. Looks like fun.
Nice cakes! (and I agree -- you're not a beginner -- I can't do those roses...) We miss you guys. It feels like a long time since we've seen your whole family :(...
Wow! That cake is amazing. You will have to do one foe me some time :-). J/K
Happy Birthday Elsa
The project of the kid's cakes would be stressful to me, as I visualize the mess! But, it looks like it was successful. The birthday cake is beautiful!! Happy Birthday, Elsa!
HOw Fun! Elsa's cake turned out great!
